S890 steel is a quenched and tempered high-strength steel plate, the series grades are S890Q, S890QL, S890QL1. S890Q, S890QL, S890QL1 steel,ASTM A573 Grade 65(A573 Gr 65) steel plates, where S means structural steel, Q means that the impact temperature of the steel plate is -20°C, and QL means that the impact temperature of the steel plate is -50°C. Then guess what QL1 stands for. QL1 means that the impact temperature of the steel plate is -60°C, and 890 means that the thickness is £50mm.

Boiler steel mainly refers to materials used to make superheaters, main steam pipes and heating surfaces of boiler fire chambers. Boiler steel is a totally different material from ASTM A573 Grade 65(A573 Gr 65) steel. The performance requirements for boiler steel are mainly good welding performance, certain high temperature strength, alkali corrosion resistance, and oxidation resistance. Commonly used boiler steels include open-hearth smelted low-carbon killed steel or electric furnace smelted low-carbon steel, with carbon content Wc in the range of 0.16%-0.26%. When manufacturing high-pressure boilers, pearlitic heat-resistant steel or austenitic heat-resistant steel is used. In recent years, ordinary low-alloy steel has also been used to build boilers.

The steel such as ASTM A573 Grade 65(A573 Gr 65) steel delivered in the hot-rolled state has a certain degree of corrosion resistance due to the high temperature, so it can be stored in the open air. However, this layer of oxide scale also makes the hot-rolled steel surface rough and the size fluctuates greatly. Therefore, the steel with smooth surface, accurate size and good mechanical properties is required to be produced by using hot-rolled semi-finished products or finished products as raw materials and then cold rolling.
